Subaru Succeeds in Test Flights Using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
Tokyo, April 11, 2024 – Subaru Corporation is pleased to announce that its Aerospace Company Utsunomiya Plant (Utsunomiya City Tochigi Prefecture, Japan) has successfully completed test flights using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in a helicopter owned by the Subaru Group in March 2024.
As an aircraft manufacturer, Subaru will continue to develop decarbonization technologies to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society. Subaru is committed to developing decarbonizing technologies for the realization of a sustainable society.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF):
Aviation fuel produced from plants and waste oil. SAF is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions more than conventional fossil aviation fuels because plants, as the main raw material, absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere during photosynthesis, balancing the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed and emitted.
