Regarding Covid-19 Infection at Subaru Work Site
Subaru Corporation announced that an employee working at its Aerospace Company’s Handa Plant in Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan tested positive for Covid-19 on August 2. We fully understand the concern this causes for local residents and our stakeholders, and we take the matter very seriously.
The employee in question took a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on August 1 and was confirmed positive on August 2. The employee is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The last time the employee was at the plant was on July 30.
To prevent the spread of infection, we immediately notified the local public health center and took the following steps.
Even after the state of emergency was lifted, we have continued to implement measures to prevent the spread of infection, such as ensuring all employees conduct basic preventive measures (handwashing, disinfection, wearing masks, etc.), reducing domestic business trips (prohibiting overseas business trips), and encouraging our employees at the offices in Tokyo including the head office to work from home. Going forward, we will further reinforce these measures.
We will give top priority to preventing the spread of infection in and outside the company and ensuring the safety of employees, as we continue to work together with relevant parties to deal with this situation.
We ask our stakeholders for your understanding on this matter.
・Under the guidance of the public health center, we identified all individuals who have been in close contact with the infected employee, and took appropriate measures including disinfection of the employee’s work area, meeting rooms, locker rooms and cafeterias.
・Operations were suspended at the Handa Plant on August 3. The plant is scheduled to resume operations starting on August 4 once the measures taken have been confirmed. There is no concern that this incident will affect the business activities of the plant.
