2025 SUBARU Motorsport Activities
Tokyo, January 10, 2025 — Subaru Corporation and its motorsport subsidiary Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)*1 announced an overview of motorsport activities for 2025.
SUBARU BRZ GT300 2025 | SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE 2025 |
SUPER GT Series
Subaru will compete in the GT300 class of the SUPER GT Series with the SUBARU BRZ GT300 race car.
The Team General Manager will be Masahiro Ozawa, team operations will be managed by R&D SPORT*2 and the team manager will be Minoru Sawada from R&D SPORT. Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi will be driving for the team.
The team will compete with the race car developed in accordance with the FIA international standard roll cage to be introduced from 2025. Subaru aims to win the season championship for the first time since the 2021 season with SUBARU BRZ, which has improved its aerodynamic performance and a more advanced set-up that brings out the best tire performance.
Nürburgring 24-Hour Race
The 53rd Nürburgring 24-Hour Race will take place in Germany on June 19-22, and Subaru will compete in the SP4T class*3 with the SUBARU WRX NBR CHALLENGE race car.
The Team Manager Takuya Sawada will lead the team and four drivers, Carlo van Dam (Netherlands), Tim Schrick (Germany), Kota Sasaki (Japan), and Rintaro Kubo (Japan) will be driving for the team.
With further improvement of the 2024 class-winning race car, Subaru aims for second consecutive win in the SP4T class.
Also, 8 service technicians selected from Subaru dealerships around Japan will again join the team to support the race. Subaru has had dealer technicians participate in overseas motorsport races since 1990, a unique initiative aimed at delivering “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” to customers by enhancing the technical skills of its service technicians.
Japanese Rally Championship
As similar to last year, Subaru will be supporting on team operation of Toshihiro Arai. The team will compete in the full series with the race car based on WRX S4 powerd by 2.4 liter direct injection turbo engine and Subaru Global Platform, and aim for higher prizes in the class.
In addition, service technicians selected from Subaru dealerships will support the maintenance of the vehicles of sponsored drivers at each competition site.
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup
As similar to last year, STI will dispatch its technical service team and provide technical supports for the SUBARU BRZ Cup Car Basic drivers at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup race.
Super Taikyu Series
Subaru will continue to compete in the Super Taikyu Series for the 2025 season as Team SDA*4 Engineering with the aim of developing human resources and providing technical feedback for future products.
The team will mainly consist of Subaru's in-house engineers, with Masahito Motoi as the team representative and Sho Ito as the team manager. The driver lineup includes racing drivers Takuto Iguchi and Hideki Yamauchi, along with Subaru employee drivers Kazuhiro Ito and Masafumi Hanazawa.
Continuing from the last season, the team will compete with HIGH PERFORMANCE X FUTURE CONCEPT and challenge to achieve both environmental friendliness and high performance, including verification of carbon neutral fuel for horizontally-opposed turbo engines. Moreover the team will further refine various future technologies, such as drive force control of AWD, in the race environement.
