Subaru Aerospace Company's New Main Administration Building
in Full Operation at Utsunomiya Plant
Tokyo, September 15, 2023 – Subaru Corporation is pleased to announce that its Aerospace Company's new Main Administration Building, built at the Utsunomiya Plant in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, is now in full operation.
The Main Administration Building was designed to accommodate changing work styles and provide an improved work environment. Constructed with building materials and office equipment selected for their excellent energy-saving performance, the building aims to contribute to a sustainable society, a goal that includes protection of the global environment.
In the evaluation of the Building-Housing Energy-efficiency Labeling System (BELS) in Japan, the building was awarded Nearly ZEB (Zero Energy Building)*1 certification, a first for Subaru. In terms of floor space, it is the largest office building in Japan's Kanto region*2 to achieve the Nearly ZEB certification.
The building's operation is expected to reduce Subaru Aerospace Company's annual CO2 emissions by approximately 750t-CO2*3, or about 3%.
The new building will serve as a central hub for the Aerospace Company's administrative, engineering, and purchasing functions.
With this new facility, which is expected to promote more active communication among employees and rapid development and production with partner companies, Subaru aims for further growth of the Aerospace Company's business, which is based on the three pillars of defense, commercial, and helicopter programs.
