Cherishing Every Life Project: Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Forest Event at Nikko National Park

SUBARU is involved in the Cherishing Every Life Project together with SUBARU dealerships as an activity to expand the circle of Resonance and Coexistence through contributions to society. With its DNA as an aircraft manufacturer, SUBARU places top priority on safety. Based on its longstanding core value of the protection of life, we are promoting this project alongside customers and local communities. With "natural life" one of its themes, the project supports people who know the meaning of protecting natural life and safeguard precious and verdant nature.
In May 2024, at Nikko National Park in Nasu Town, Tochigi Prefecture, we held an event “SUBARU and Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Forest—Let’s Enjoy the Nature of National Park!” The event featured a guided walking tour and workshop for participants to learn and enjoy natural life and know the meaning of protecting it.

While receiving an explanation from an "interpreter" who upholds the mission to connect people and nature to pass on healthy forests to future generations, participants followed the traces of local living creatures such as woodpeckers, which are the "keystone species" for the Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Forest, observed tree trunks with the claw marks of black bears, and saw raccoon dog droppings. By actually seeing and interacting with nature, participants were able to learn about the roles of diverse flora and fauna and the importance of maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

The Nasu Heisei-no-Mori Forest is a verdant forest with more than 700 species of plants and about 3,000 kinds of insects. Participants shared a variety of comments throughout the guided walking tour and workshop, such as "I was impressed by the power of insects to live" and "I was surprised by the children's free imagination and teamwork during the workshop." SUBARU will continue to engage in activities for more people to enjoy nature and learn what it means to protect it.

Human life is irreplaceable and natural life such as flora and fauna in healthy forests is to be cherished. SUBARU supports those who have a strong conviction to protect life and are working daily to protect and connect life for future generations.
