Tokyo, May 16, 2013 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced that the company will participate in the 2013 JSAE Automotive Engineering Exposition, Japan's largest vehicle technology exhibition organized by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, Inc. to be held from May 22 through May 24 at Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall, Yokohama, Japan.
FHI will showcase Subaru's latest products and technologies including the "Subaru XV Hybrid (Japanese specification prototype)" and the 2.0 liter horizontally-opposed direct injection turbo engine.

1. The Subaru XV Hybrid (Japanese specification prototype)

Subaru's first-ever hybrid vehicle "Subaru XV Hybrid (Japanese specification prototype)" offers the brand's distinctive, enjoyable driving experience. The components for the hybrid system such as a motor and a high voltage battery are installed while maintaining the Subaru's unique Symmetrical All-Wheel drive (AWD) layout. Thus a low center of gravity and superior weight balance remain the same as the gasoline model. By using a motor assist function, both enhanced fuel economy and smooth acceleration have been achieved. The Subaru XV Hybrid will be introduced to the Japan market early summer this year.

2. The 2.0 Liter Horizonally-Opposed Direct Injection Turbo Engine

Subaru's own direct injection technology was applied to the new generation Boxer engine. By injecting fuel directly into cylinders, combustion efficiency was heightened, resulting in both high engine output and fuel efficiency. The actual 2.0 liter horizontally-opposed direct injection turbo engine and Lineartronic (CVT) will be on display.
