Led by strong demand for the all-new Impreza, May production of passenger cars in Japan resulted in the 8th straight month of year-on-year increase, with a record number of domestic production for the month of May. Overseas production kept its momentum, posting the 9th consecutive month of year-on-year growth with a record number of overseas production for the month of May. Global production marked a year-on-year rise for the 8th month in a row.

Despite strong sales of the facelifted Legacy series introduced in May, Subaru's passenger car sales in Japan resulted in a year-on-year decrease for the first time in 8 months. Total Japan sales recorded a year-on-year gain for the 8th straight month.
