Due to the increased production following the lack of inventory caused by the major earthquake in northeastern Japan, the domestic production of mini cars increased second consecutive month year-on-year and the production of passenger cars increased third consecutive month year-on-year and set an all-time December record. The overseas production increased and set an all-time December record. The global production for December increased third consecutive month year-on-year.

Despite the overseas production set an all-time record for the same period January through December, the Global production decreased for the first time in two years year-on-year, due to the limited domestic production following the major earthquake in northeastern Japan.

The sales of both passenger cars and mini cars for December increased third consecutive month year-on-year, due to the decreased sales in last year caused by the end of government "eco-car" support subsidy system.

<CY 2011>
In spite of the increased sales of Forester in CY 2011, the total sales and the passengers cars sales in Japan decreased for the first time in two years year-on-year, due to the inventory shortage caused by the decreased production following the major earthquake in northeastern Japan.
