Acquisition of Homologation on R4 Regulations
for the WRX STI Series
Tokyo, May 9, 2011 - Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced that it obtained homologation from the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) valid as from May 1 on the Group R4 regulations for the SUBARU Impreza WRX STI series*1, in addition to Group N.
Group R4 is a new category in which a homologated kit is fitted to FIA Group N cars to be more competitive. With the R4 homologation, Group N cars, for which modifications are strictly limited, are allowed a reduction in vehicle weight, suspension changes and improvements in cooling performance to ensure competitiveness against cars in higher classes.
The homologated R4 kit will be available for purchase through base teams*2 and other channels of Subaru Tecnica International*3.
