For consolidated automobile sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008, domestic sales volume of minicars decreased in all models by 15 thousand units year on year. By passenger car, sales volume of Impreza and Forester increased by 5.5 thousand units and 5.1 thousand units respectively, due to releases of new FMC models. However, sales volume of Legacy decreased by 12.9 thousand units. Thus, total passenger car sales volume decreased by 3.1 thousand units. In total, sales volume decreased by 18.1 thousand units.
Overseas, in the United States, sales volumes of Legacy and Tribeca increased by 1.8 thousand units and 5.9 thousand units, respectively. This offset a decrease of 4.4 thousand units of Forester as it neared the end of its model cycle, resulting in total sales volume in the United States increasing by 2.5 thousand units. In Canada, sales volume increased by 1.3 thousand units due to the release of a new FMC Impreza model. For Europe, in Russia, sales volumes increased uniformly in all models, for a total increase of 9.7 thousand units. Sales volume in all of Europe increased by 14.6 thousand units in total. The increased sales volumes include 12.1 thousand units of Impreza and 7.1 thousand units of Justy, due to releases of their new models. In Australia, sales volume increased by 2.1 thousand units due to the release of a new Impreza model. For the Others region, in China, sales volume increased in all models, for a total increase of 5.2 thousand units. Sales volume in Singapore and other regions also increased, for a total Others increase of 16.4 thousand units.
As a result of the above, although overseas total sales volume increased by 36.8 thousand units, sales volume in Japan decreased by 18.1 thousand units. Grand total sales volume increased by 18.7 thousand units. |
